Still hurts

One side of me wants to cry and continue to suffer
The other side knows what is over is gone and was just an experience
I want to cry; cry out loud
I want to sing; sing through the sunny days

You have displayed tremendous strength in the last few months. I know it is hard to understand why this happed, why you and how you will move on. I am sure that you will see the light of happiness soon.

I read this poem 4 years ago that helped me go through a difficult phase. Hope it helps you too.

A CHILD OF MINE

I’ll lend you for a little while
A child of mine, God said
For you to love while he lives
And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.

But will you, till I call him back
Take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you
And - should his stay be brief -
You’ll have his lovely memories
As a solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay
For all from earth returns,
But there are lessons taught below
I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the whole world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from all beings that crowd life’s land
I have chosen you.

Now, will you give him all your love?
Nor think the labor vain.
Nor hate me when I come to take
This lent child back again.

I fancied that I heard you say
“Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys Thy child will bring
The risk of grief we’ll run.

We will shelter him with tenderness
We’ll love him while we may -
And for the happiness we have known
Forever grateful stay.

But should the angels come for him
Much sooner than we planned.
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.”

I had my first doc visit after the miscarriage scheduled the following day. All the memories came right back.

Thanks so much for sharing the poem and for your comments.
