30 Day Drawing Challenge - Day 26 - Something you don't like

Hola! Time to go back to something I started out doing :-) Day 26 of the drawing challenge. Had almost lost the link to the pinterest link. Hope I don't need to keep looking it for long. I want to get to my congrats finish banner of day 30 soon.

Today's topic is 'Something you don't like'. Well, I sat down to draw a day before and I could not decide. What do I not like. At that time, only thing on my mind was how my close friends and family were making strong desires in the name of better future and losing out on the today we could make beautiful. I was feeling bad I could not make any difference. I could not explain to them how to let go and in turn was getting disappointed. I thought it was too complicated thought and since now putting attention to simplicity was my new mantra, I instead went to bed.

But the following day, I had a meeting with my manager. It was too noisy at my desk, so we went into a conference room so that there was no disturbance. It was a serious discussion for me, as it was of more value to me than the other person. And regardless of the purpose of discussion, I do demand undivided attention. But he was getting late and needed to co-ordinate with his car pool folks. Just imagine this moment. I am talking, and he texts and starts making calls. I say, 'we can talk tomorrow, if you need to leave'. And he says, 'no, I am listening, you keep talking'. Really?

This is very annoying. I have seen this happen at lot of places. Even I do that, many times in fact. And I also know that, I tend to do this when I give more importance to the phone call than the conversation with the person with me.

This drawing is a lesson to all of us, that we need to make proper judgement on when we make/take calls, send texts, check FB on phone etc. Also, that we need to respect the company that we are in. The use of cell phone has brought a lot of convenience in our life but has also made us insensitive to the 'human' interaction. Something to ponder.

Day 25 - Scenery

This is one scenery I would draw over and over as a kid. And I still draw like that.In fact most of the kids in my class would draw something similar. Mountains flying in the air, some clouds. I think I forgot to draw some birds flying.

Few more to go and I reach Day 30! Boy, am I the only one who took 6 months to complete a challenge.

30 Day Drawing Challenge - Day 17 to 23

I have been lagging way way behind on the 30 day drawing challenge. Today I was feeling a bit in a rut, so thought getting back to this challenge may be a good way to get my spirits back. And guess what, I managed to fly through quite a few of them in less than 10 minutes. Yay!
Day 17 - Favorite plant - what kind of topic is that? But wait, that brings back a great feeling of love and care. When I was in school someone showed me how to plant a ginger plant and that is one of my fondest memories of owning and caring something very dear.
Day 18 - Doodle - wondered what a doodle is? I looked up google; basically it is something you draw subconsciously. And I draw this all the time; in fact I think this is the only thing I have learned to draw effortlessly.
Day 19 - Something New - I am reading a book - 'The Immortals of Meluha'. What can be better than a book for this topic where things change so very often and authors do struggle and manage too to keep it interesting.
Day 20 - Something Orange - Hope this one looks like one - it is a orange light (traffic orange) Duh!
Day 21 - Something you want - Right now all I want is PEACE
Day 22 - Something you miss - I miss being athletic and flexible and thin
Day 23 - Something you need - I need a change for sure!

30 Day Drawing Challenge - Day 16 - Inspiration

Next topic was - Inspiration 

I could think of so many things, so many people. First thing came to my mind was my Mom. She has been my inspiration for strength and grace. Then I thought of my friends, sister, her friends for their struggles and how they rose above them. They will always inspire me to be happy. My Aunt who died of cancer; she inspires me to live healthy and with gratefulness.

Anything that is socially defined to be 'not possible' or 'not acceptable' and yet achievable and forces acceptance inspires me.  So I made a picture of a baby solving Rubik's Cube, an elephant winning a race against ace lion and a plant living happily even void of sunlight.

Hmm.. Hmmm... Cinderella! My sister once took part as Cinderella when she was in a drama school. In the story, her sisters troubled her, but in reality my Cinderella sister troubled me a lot.

30 Day drawing challenge - Day 9 - Fav TV show

My favorite TV show as a kid was the game show 'Crystal Maze' hosted by Richard O'Brien. I was completely glued to the TV set all the time. I was so fascinated by how the show went from medieval period to a modern one. The show was fast paced, very engaging and at the same time silly. Why were the bunch of people scared of that spooky looking host? Why did they run after him jumping up and down for no reason? He looked weird but at the same time was the life of the show. Does anyone remember this show? Was it your favorite too?

Today's topic - favorite animated character. Thought about Tom and Jerry first. But popeye cartoon looked simpler to draw.
Too tired and too sleepy right now. But wanted to post right away. Tomorrow's topic is 'favorite tv show'. May be I will end up drawing Tom and Jerry anyways :)
Let me see. I have quite a favorites. Used to watch lot of tv as a kid. And do so even now.

Om Namah Shivaya!
The Five Sacred Syllables: The Om Namah Shivaya mantra has five syllables: na-mah-shi-va-ya (sometimes called six syllable mantra by including Om). Thus, Om Namah Shivaya mantra is called five-syllable mantra, or Panchakshara Mantra (panch means five). Among other things, these five represent the five elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space. Thus, the Om Namah Shivaya mantra leads awareness in the reverse order from manifestation back to the source from which manifestation arose.

Today's topic was 'best friend'. Navin is my best buddy! With what we have gone through last few months, I feel blessed to have married my best friend. We are BFF!

Today's topic was 'favorite place'. For me it's my bed. ANYTIME!
My bed has been my friend in sorrow and joy. And I cannot live a day away from it. Literally.
The gal in the bed looks scary isn't it?

30 day drawing challenge - day 2

Today's topic was 'favorite animal'.
We always had cats at home and I have always grown fond of them. At one time we got two tiny kittens from my aunts place. They were white as snow and soft as feather. Everyone just fell in love with them.
We used to have wooden floors at home with long corridors. These two would wake up on the crack of dawn and start chasing each other from one end to the other end of the corridors. I can still remember the sound from the wooden floor as they breezed through the passage. It was beautiful; like just the right notes playing.
I tied black ribbons round their necks. I thought that would protect them from bad omen. Well, my granny had told me that works.
But you know life is so unpredictable. Both the kittens used to be always together no matter where they went.
On one unfaithful day one of them ran right on the road. Other ran after him and got hit by a scooter.
This was the first time I learned how much pain a death can bring.
The one kitten that was left with us never ran those wooden floors again.

This is me in a pensive mood. It's funny how Navin reacted to this one. He said it looked like jungle book's Mogli!
It was good fun running to the stores to look for a sketch book and a pencil. Today I need to get a sharpener and an eraser for sure.
